Ontario Company Recalls Mushrooms

Ravine Mushroom Farms Inc. of Woodbridge, ON has recalled one production batch of Fresh Obsessions brand Ready To Serve Pre-washed Sliced White Mushrooms, according to a Health Hazard Alert posted yesterday evening by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The recalled mushrooms may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled mushrooms, which were sold only in Ontario, were packed in 8 ounce / 227 gram packages bearing the identifying UPC 0 69200 00902 2 and lot code R12398.

There have been no illnesses associated with this recall, which is completely unrelated to the Maple Leaf outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes and is also not related to some recent recalls of Listeria monocytogenes-contaminated cheeses in the province of Quebec.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled mushrooms should either discard them or return the packages to the store for a refund.
