Allergy Alert: UK Announces Jam Recall

The UK Food Standards Agency advised consumers today that Forest Products UK Ltd. has recalled two of its apricot jams due to the presence of undeclared sulfur dioxide.

The recalled items are:

• The Cherry Tree Apricot Extra Jam (340g): Best before June 2011; Batch code 8174 CK015
  
• West Country Preserving Company Finest Apricot Extra Jam (340g): Best before October 2010; Batch code 7296 CN115
  

Individuals who are sensitive to sulfites may suffer a severe allergic reaction upon eating these products. The company has withdrawn both items from sale, and is encouraging anyone who purchased one of the jams to return it to the store for a full refund.
