Allergy Alert: Sulfites in Bamboo Shoots

Lion Pavilion Ltd. (Brooklyn, NY) has recalled its Yulanpian brand Dried Slices of Tender Bamboo Shoots after undeclared sulfites were found in a sample of the product.

The recalled batch of bamboo shoots, a product of China, is sold in 230-gram clear plastic packages sporting the code 2008.1.3, and was distributed nationally in the United States.

The presence of sulfites was discovered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets as part of the state's routine sampling program.

Individuals who are allergic to sulfites should avoid consuming this product, as they could experience a severe, possibly life-threatening reaction to the undeclared ingredient.

Consumers who purchased the recalled product should return it to the store for a full refund. For more information on the recall, contact the Lion Pavilion directly at (718) 384-6951.
