Recall Roundup: July 25, 2010

  • Allergy Alert: Oregon Ice Cream Company LLC (Eugene, OR) recalls 641 tubs of 3 gallon Denali Bear Claw ice cream (Lot code 10124), because it may contain undeclared peanuts. The ice cream was sold in ice cream scoop shops and Cash & Carry stores in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Arizona, and Alaska.
  • Allergy Alert and Food Safety Recall: Quong Hop & Co. (South San Francisco, CA) recalls all Raquel's brand hummus, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and other food items, because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. In addition, the hummus contains soy lecithin that is not declared on the label. The recalled products were sold in supermarkets and natural food stores on the West Coast and in the Midwest including in California, Alaska, Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Nevada.
  • Food Safety Recall: Specialty-Farms, LLC (Bridgeport, CT) is voluntarily recalling Specialty Farms brand Organic Alfalfa Sprouts Blend and Organic Sprout Salad (4-ounce net weight; sell-by date of 7/26/2010), because the sprouts may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled sprouts were shipped to Cooseman’s NY (Distributor) and to Price Chopper, a regional supermarket chain with stores in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Pennsylvania.
  • Food Safety Recall: Pasco Processing, LLC (Pasco, WA) recalls 2087 cases of 20lb. bulk packaged Corn and Poblano peppers (products coded 3901741007 and 3901751007), because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The item was produced by Pasco Processing, LLC and transferred to the J R Simplot Company for distribution to two (unspecified) foodservice distributors in California and one in Arizona and further distributed to Chipotle Mexican Grill Restaurant locations in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
  • Pet Food Safety Recall: The Procter & Gamble Company recalls Iams Veterinary Formulas Feline Renal (5.5 lbs; UPC 0 19014 21405 1; Lot codes 01384174B4 and 01384174B2), after FDA analysis identified a positive result on both lot codes. The product was sold through veterinary clinics nationwide.
