Recall Roundup: July 22, 2010

Canada
  • Allergy Alert: Les Chocolats Lulu, Inc. recalls their Easter figurines, because the decorations on the figurines may contain eggs and soy that have not been declared on the label. The recalled items were distributed to Costco Wholesale Canada, Ltd., which posted the recall notice.
  • Food Safety Recall: Dats Déli Européen Inc., Montreal, QC (Establishment No. 155) has once more expanded its recall of ready-to-eat deli meats to include additional products, best before codes, and distribution for the affected products. The recalled products, which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, were distributed in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia and may have been distributed nationally.   • Food Safety Recall: G. Brandt Meat Packers Ltd. recalls all flavours of Brandt Headcheese products, bearing Establishment number 164 and purchased up to and including July 21, 2010. The recalled products, which were distributed nationally, may be contaminated with Salmonella. The CFIA is aware of a Salmonella Chester outbreak and is collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada, British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BC CDC), Health Canada and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (Ontario) to investigate these illnesses. Ten Salmonella Chester illnesses in British Columbia have been linked to Freybe headcheese that was manufactured by Brandt Meat Packers.


Europe
  • Food Safety Recall (Finland): Lidl Finland Ky recalls McEnnedy Hot Dogs and McEnnedy Chicken Hot Dogs (expiration dates 31.7-10.8.2010) after the German manufacturer detects Listeria in a sample. The recalled products are in 200 g plastic containers. Please follow the live link to view more details, including pictures of the recalled products.
