United States
  • Allergy Alert: General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) recalls a single day's production of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins, 10-count boxes (Better if Used By 05JUN2011 YO 12) because, due to a labeling issue, the product contains undeclared peanut butter. No other varieties or production dates of Nature Valley products are affected by this recall.
  • Allergy Alert: Deluxe Ice Cream, a subsidiary of Matterhorn Group, Inc. (Salem, OR) recalls Western Family Maple Nut Ice Cream, 56 fl. oz. (UPC 15400-22808; Best By 07-23-11; Plant 41-48) because it may contain undeclared peanuts. The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, California, Alaska and Guam.
  • Allergy Alert: House of Spices (Flushing, NY) recalls Garvi Gujarat brand Tam Tam (STAR NOODLES), 10 oz (UPC 7 23246 22347 6), after sampling and analysis by the State of Connecticut determined that the India-made product may contain undeclared peanuts. The recalled product was sold in retail stores nationwide.
  • Allergy Alert: Suzipoo (Ogunquit, ME) recalls Lobster Poo, 4 oz. bags because the product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. The Lobster Poo was distributed to three retail stores in Maine from August 1-August 18, 2010.
  • Food Safety Recall: Abbott recalls certain Similac and Isomil brand powder infant formulas after an internal quality review detected the "remote possibility" of the presence of a small common beetle in one production area of the facility where the recalled products were manufactured. According to FDA, while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract. The recalled powder infant formulas were distributed in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and some countries in the Caribbean. Consumers should visit www.similac.com/recall/lookup to determine whether the products they have purchased are affected by this recall notice.
  • Food Recall/Withdrawal: Food City advises consumers that Gunnoe Farms has recalled/withdrawn Gunnoe Potato Salad, 24 oz. No details are given.

  • Allergy Alert (Ireland): Donegal Natural Foods reports that Donegal Natural Foods Apricots, 6 x 150g packs (Product code J56; see recall notice for affected batch numbers) contains undeclared sulphur dioxide. Donegal is currently rectifying this labeling issue.
  • Allergy Alert (Sweden): Axford withdraws Eldorado Noodles in the cup, 65 grams (steak, shrimp and chicken flavors), because the spice to be added contains peas, carrots and chives that are not declared on the label.
  • Pharmaceutical Product Recall (France): GlaxoSmithKline recalls Lanvis, 40 mg breakable tablets (Lot 809359; Expiry 04/2011), because of atypical disintegration and solubilization time stability test results.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1264): Too high content of trans fatty acids in confectionery from Germany; distributed to Denmark.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1265): Mercury in frozen swordfish (Xiphias gladius) from Spain; distributed to Spain.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1266): Listeria monocytogenes in hot smoked ribs of salmon from Estonia; distributed to Estonia and Latvia.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1267): Carbendazim in thompson seedless grapes from India; distributed to the United Kingdom.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1268): Carbendazim and azoxystrobin in eddoe from Costa Rica; distributed to the United Kingdom.
