United States
  • Allergy Alert: S&M (U.S.A) ENTERRPIRSE CORP. (Brooklyn, NY) recalls Grow Grove Notes brand Dried Taro because it contained undeclared sulfites. The product of China is sold in an un-coded 12-ounce clear plastic package and was distributed in New York State.
  • Allergy Alert: Liz Lovely, Inc. (Waitsfield, VT), a dairy free bakery, is recalling cookie products containing chocolate or chocolate chips with undeclared dairy present in the chocolate which was purchased from a third-party chocolate manufacturer. The recall includes specific lots of Cowboy Cookies, Cowgirl Cookies, Peanut Butter Classics, Gluten Free Chocolate Fudge, Gluten Free Triple Chocolate Mint, Gluten Free Chocolate Chip, Lovely Oh's, Mint Lovely Oh's, Peanut Butter Lovely Oh's, and Organic Pretzels. The products were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.
  • Food Recall: La Preferida recalls La Preferida Chick Peas (Lot codes: Best by 06-21-2012 through 08-30-2012; 1-pound cello packaging), because the product does not meet quality standards.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Race Street Foods, Inc. (San Jose, CA) that a September 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Fish Cove, Inc. (Syracuse, NY) that a July 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Swedish Bitters Herbs Company (Concordia, MO) that a July 2010 inspection of the company revealed a number of violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) in Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling, or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Tony Crab King, Inc. (Bronx, NY) that a June/July 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Showa Marine Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) that a July 2010inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Dreisbach Enterprises, Inc. (Oakland, CA) that an August 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns 18th Street Deli, Inc. that an April 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.


Europe
  • Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall (UK): Merck Serono UK recalls 6 batches of GONAL-f 4501U/0.75mL solution for injection in a pre-filled pen, due to a labeling error.
  • Dietary Supplement Alert (Denmark): The Food Administration warns consumers against buying supplements from the website usabutikken.com, because the website sold a number of dietary supplements containing substances and plants that may pose a health risk.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1561): Benzo(a)pyrene in smoked sprats in oil from Latvia; distributed to the Czech Republic.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1562): Omethoate and dimethoate in radish from Belgium, via the Netherlands; distributed to Germany.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1563): Foodborne outbreak suspected (Norovirus) to be caused by frozen raspberries from Serbia via Sweden; distributed to Denmark and Sweden.


Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands
  • Pharmaceutical Products Safety Recall (Hong Kong): Novartis Pharm (HK) Ltd. recalls three methotrexate injection preparations because glass particles were found in some vials. The recalled products were manufactured in Austria by Ebewe Pharma.
