United States
  • Allergy Alert: Golden Pacific Foods, Inc. recalls Marco Polo Brand Shrimp Snacks sold as Original, Onion & Garlic Flavored and Bar-B-Que Flavored, because they may contain undeclared milk and soy. All expiration dates up and including 08-13-10 are included in the recall. The affected snack items were sold in retail stores nationwide.
  • Food Safety Recall: Lorentz Meats (Cannon Falls, MN) recalls approximately 100 pounds of ham products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled half and whole ham packages of KOWALSKI'S Markets, FULLY COOKED, SMOKED HAM were produced on March 12, 2010, and distributed to retail establishments in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the surrounding area. The problem was detected as a result of third party testing and reported to USDA by Lorentz Meats.

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands
  • Dietary Supplement Alert (Malaysia): Ministry of Health authorities recently discovered a company distributing orange juice in packets mixed with thiosildenafil, an analogue of sildenafil or Viagra after raiding a factory in Seri Kembangan following a tip-off. Sildenafil and its analogues can cause serious side effects and should not be taken except under a doctor's supervision.
