United States

• Allergy Alert: Sunny Lake Trading Inc. (Brooklyn, NY) recalls Radix Polygonati Officinalis (a Chinese herb) because it contains undeclared sulfites. The recalled Product of China was sold in 12-ounce, uncoded clear plastic bags throughout New York State.

Canada

• Food Safety Recall: Liberté Natural Foods Ltd. (Brampton, ON) recalls two Western brand Cream Cheese products (Best before DE 28) that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled products were distributed in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. No associated illnesses have been reported.

Europe

• Allergy Alert (UK): Ginni Enterprises Ltd recalls Soft Dried Apricots (200g) with a ‘best before’ date of October 2010, because the product contains undeclared sulfur dioxide.
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1666): Campylobacter spp. in whole fresh chicken from Germany; distributed in Denmark
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1668): Salmonella typhimurium in frozen beefmeat from Poland, via Germany; distributed in Sweden
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1665): Aflatoxins in organic maize from the Netherlands; distributed in the Netherlands
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1664): Salmonella typhimurium DT 104 - multiresistant in frozen duck from Germany; distributed in Denmark
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1663): Live frog in iceberg lettuce from Spain; distributed in Finland
• Feed Safety Notification (EU #2009.1662): Salmonella Livingstone in extracted soybean meal from Austria, with raw material from Italy; distributed in Austria
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1661): Cadmium in rice from Italy; distributed in Germany, Spain and the USA
• Food Safety Notification (EU #2009.1660): Unauthorised substance tylosin in whole fresh liquid eggs from Spain; distributed in France
