United States
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns seafood importer Gusto Food, Inc. (Maspeth, NY) of "...serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation..." as the result of a March 2009 inspection.
  • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns seafood processor Zanzibar Cafe, Inc. (San Diego, CA) of "...serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation..." as the result of an August 2009 inspection.


Canada
  • Allergy Alert: Canadian Food Inspection Agency advises Canadian consumers that certain Gioia and Nutkao brands of nut spreads imported from Italy may contain undeclared peanuts and have been recalled by the importers. The recalled items were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec and may also be available in other Canadian provinces and territories.


Asia, Africa & The Pacific
  • Proprietary Medicine Recall (Hong Kong): Department of Health urged members of the public not to buy or use a proprietary Chinese medicine (pCm) named "XUE FU ZHU YU TANG" as it was found to have exceeded heavy metal limit. The product has been recalled
