Recall Roundup: October 10, 2009

  • Allergy Alert: Giant® Food Stores and Price Chopper are both reporting a recall of Hostess Scary Monster Cakes (UPC 45000-01421) due to the presence of undeclared coconut.
  • Food Safety Recall: Fisher-Rex Sandwich Co. recalls some pre-packaged sandwiches after tests by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in product samples as part of a routine inspection. Affected products are identified by a six-digit product code that begins with 01, and were sold in convenience stores, gas stations and other retail stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. No illnesses have been reported.
