Recall Roundup: October 18, 2009

  • Food Safety Recall: Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation (Milwaukee, WI) recalls approximately 5,522 pounds of beef tongues that may not have had the tonsils completely removed. Tonsils may contain defective prions that transmit mad cow disease.
  • Food Safety Recall: Raley's Family of Fine Stores recalls Del Monte brand whole cantaloupes sold at its Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source stores in Nevada and Northern California between Oct. 5 and Oct. 16, 2009. According to a report in the San Jose Mercury News, the recalled was triggered by the detection of Salmonella during a routine monitoring program.
