The citizens of Beijing should be grateful that their country was granted the privilege of hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. The Chinese government will begin monitoring the safety of the city's water supply and performing necessary maintenance in May - just in time to "guarantee" an adequate supply of "safe" water for the August 2008 Games.
There is no mention of plans to continue the water safety program after the games have ended.
