  • Allergy Alert: Pampanga Food Company, Inc. (Anaheim, CA) recalls approximately 14,430 pounds of PAMPANGA Sauteed Chicken (30-pound cases containing 3-pound bags; Est. No. P-9029-A; packaged between May 6th and Dec 6th, 2010; Lot No. 0506 to 1203), due to the presence of undeclared whey. The recalled products were shipped to distribution centers for further sale to restaurants in California and Hawaii.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall: Reese Pharmaceutical Company (Cleveland, OH) recalls Lot #091612 (60-count bottles of guaifenesin 200mg tablets) of Refenesen Expectorant Select Brand Mucus Relief Expectorant, QC Medifin Expectorant, and Leader Cough Tabs Expectorant, because of undeclared active ingredients acetaminophen, phenylephrine and chlorpheniramine maleate.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert: FDA warns consumers not to use Man Up Now capsules, marketed as an "herbal" and "all natural" dietary supplement for sexual enhancement, because the capsules contain a variation of an active ingredient found in Viagra (sulfoaildenafil) that can dangerously lower blood pressure. Man Up Now is distributed by Synergy Distribution LLC and is sold on Internet sites, online marketplaces and, possibly in retail outlets.
  • Consumer Product Safety Recall (Update): The Consumer Product Safety Commission has reversed its earlier ruling and now considers Wizard of Oz and superhero drinking glasses to be adult products. These glasses, which were found to have elevated lead levels in the decorative paint on their outside surfaces, were recalled because the level of lead exceeded the limits for children's products.


Canada
  • Allergy Alert: Unger's Market (London, ON) recalls Cherry Cake (small and large), Dundee Cake (small and large), Glasgow Gingerbread (small and large) and Sultana Cake (small and large) due to the presence of undeclared milk and (except for the Sultana Cake) undeclared sulphites. The products were sold at Unger's Market, Gainsborough Road, London, ON.
  • Food Safety Recall: MAPAQ advises that several subs and sandwiches sold under the Les Cuisines Polo Bic brand (Best before 30 décembre 2010), and subs and sandwiches Best before 30 décembre 2010) sold at Dépanneur Godefroy (Saint-Grégoire, QC) have been recalled because they were made using processed cheeses recalled by Saputo Inc on December 2nd.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall: McNeil Consumer Healthcare (Canada) recalls all lots numbers and flavors of ROLAIDS® Ultra Strength SoftChews® and ROLAIDS® Ultra Strength SoftChews® plus Gas Relief, following consumer reports of foreign materials in the product, including metal and wood products.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Natural Performance Products Ltd. recalls specific lot numbers of the male sexual enhancement products Durazest for Men and Once More, because the products contain the undeclared pharmaceutical ingredient nortadalafil.
  • Health Product Safety Recall: Les Produits Naturels Leblanc Inc. recalls Flat Stomach Concept Extra, due to missing label statements related to the duration of use, risks and contraindications.
  • Cosmetic Product Safety Alert: Health Canada warns that ten professional hair smoothing solutions (in addition to Brazilian Blowout Solution) contain levels of formaldehyde above the limit set by Health Canada. The affected products are available in hair salons across Canada, but not generally sold directly to consumers. Please refer to the Health Canada Advisory for details.


Europe
  • Food Safety Recall (Finland): Lidl Suomi Ky recalls Peking Ente young German frozen duck, 2.4 kg (Best before 31.03.2012; Lot code L10.256G), because the product, which was imported from Germany, may be contaminated with Salmonella.
  • Food Safety Recall (Denmark): JAN Import A/S recalls XXL Organic Cane Sugar, 2kg (Best before 29/11-2011; Lot #8784-18), sold in Bilka stores across Denmark, because there have been a small number of small, translucent, whitish plastic-like balls (1mm diam) found in the product.

  • OTC Pharmaceutical Recall (Reprise): McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled Rolaids® Extra Strength Softchews, Cherry Flavor, 36-count pkg (Lot #0053AG2), distributed in the USA, after consumer complaints of an uncharacteristic consistency or texture were traced to crystallized sugar in the product. The recalled item was manufactured by a third part for McNeil.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Recall (Reprise): McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled all product lots of Junior Strength MOTRIN® Caplets, 24-count (distributed in the USA only), and all product lots of Children's BENADRYL® Allergy FASTMELT® Tablets, cherry and grape flavors (distributed in the USA and exported to other countries and territories as shown below), after a review revealed insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Recall (Reprise): McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled three TYLENOL® Cold Multi-Symptom liquid products in order to update labeling for these products. The recalled products were distributed in the USA.


Canada
  • Food Safety Recall: Sobeys Inc. (Stellarton, NS) recalls all in-store packaged assorted cold cut subs containing cooked ham, salami and processed cheese sold in Foodland stores in the Atlantic Provinces (best before dates up to and including November 29, 2010), because they products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled sandwiches are associated with a recall announced late last week by APFL (PEI) of sandwiches made using processed cheese slices that were supplied by Saputo Inc., and were suspected of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Recall (Reprise): McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled all product lots of Children's BENADRYL® Allergy FASTMELT® Tablets, cherry and grape flavors, manufactured in the USA and exported to Canada, after a review revealed insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process.
  • Consumer Product Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Limited recalls Everyday Essentials™ 500mL and Joe Fresh Style™ 350mL Double Wall Stainless Steel Food Jars, because the jars may present a safety hazard. There is a potential for the lid to pop off from the jar when it contains a hot liquid. The recalled thermos-type jars are sold nationally at Loblaw corporate, franchise and affiliated independent stores.

Australia and New Zealand
  • Allergy Alert (Australia): Haigh's Manufacturing Pty Ltd. recalls Haigh's Chocolates Gourmet Christmas Cake (450g cake in clear plastic box; Best before dates 19-Sept-11 and 02-Oct-11), due to the presence of undeclared food additives. The recalled item is sold only through Haigh's stores, and was distributed only in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.


Latin America and the Caribbean
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Recall (Reprise): McNeil Consumer Healthcare has recalled all product lots of Children's BENADRYL® Allergy FASTMELT® Tablets, cherry and grape flavors, manufactured in the USA and exported to Belize, Barbados, Puerto Rico, St. Martin and St. Thomas, after a review revealed insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process.

  • Food Safety Recall (Update): The following retailers carried Calabro Rotolini Gold Mozzarello & Prosciutto appetizers (8-ounce pkg; UPC 7171500380; Lot #3190), recalled by the manufacturer due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes: Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut; Big Y World Class Market.
  • Food Safety Recall (Update): The following retailers are among those who carried raw milk cheeses manufactured by Bravo Farms (Traver, CA) and recalled by the manufacturer due to possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7 and/or Listeria monocytogenes: Costco (San Diego Region), Whole Foods Market (stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington), QFC (a Kroger Company supermarket chain), Save Mart, Raley's, Lucky, Nob Hill Market, Bel Air Market, Nugget Market, and Henry's. The recalled cheeses also were supplied to distributors in California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, Missouri and Connecticut for distribution to retailers, restaurants and food service operations.   • Medical Device Safety Recall: Advanced Bionics recalls its HiRes 90K cochlear implant device in response to two confirmed instances where the product experienced a malfunction that resulted in its recipients experiencing severe pain, overly loud sounds and/or shocking sensations at 8-10 days after initial activation of the devices.
  • Consumer Alert (EPA): The EPA is warning the public about a potential threat from an illegal pesticide product imported from China. The Fuji Lavender Moth Tablets, which are suspected to contain the toxic active ingredient called para-dichlorobenzene, could be mistaken for candy and are not registered with EPA.


Canada
  • Allergy Alert: Quaker Canada recalls Quaker Chewy Granola Bars Value Packs (14 bars; 364g; UPC 0 55577 10742 3; all lot codes), because the bars may have been mispacked with Quaker Dipps granola bars that contain peanuts. The recalled product has been distributed nationally.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Recall: McNeil Consumer Healthcare (Canada) recalls Children's Benadryl Allergy Meltaways tablets, because the company has identified quality control concerns on lots that had not been released for sale. No adverse reactins have been reported.

  • Food Safety Recall: Calabro Cheese (East Haven, CT) recalls approximately 57 pounds of CALABRO All Natural ROTOLINI Mozzarella & Prosciutto (Lot #3190), that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The appetizers were produced on November 15th and distributed to warehouses and retail outlets in Boston and Springfield, MA and in Westport, CT.
  • Food Safety Recall: Bravo Farms expands its earlier recall to include all Bravo Farms cheeses after the California Department of Food and Agriculture finds both Listeria monocytogenes and E. coli o157:H7 during its outbreak-related investigation of the company's production facility. The company sells its cheeses through retail stores across the US (mainly on the West Coast. Costco stores in the San Diego region carried the recalled cheeses.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Recall: McNeil Consumer Healthcare recalls three Tylenol® Cold Multi-Symptom liquid products in order to update labeling for these products. The recalled items were sold in the United States.


Canada
  • Food Safety Recall: Québec's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announces a recall of Cochonnailles Gourmandes Côtelette fumée (best before 24 November), sold fresh by weight at a meat counter in Halles Fleur de Lys (245, rue Soumande, Québec), because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.


Europe
  • Food Safety Recall (Finland): Valio recalls Valion sokeroimatonta mansikkakeittoa (unsweetened strawberry soup) that may be contaminated with a caustic cleaning solution. The recalled product is sold in 1-kilo cans and can be identified by the best before date of 12/30/2010. The product has an unusual smell and a brown color.
  • Food Recall (Denmark): Reitan Distribution A/S recalls Red Cheddar Cheese, 200g (Lot #341995/57208; Expiry 18-03-2011; Product of Holland), because leaks in the seams of the plastic packaging may permit mold growth, resulting in a reduced shelf life.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert (Denmark): The Food Administration warns the public against the purchase and consumption of several products sold by the Danish website rawfoodshop.dk, as the products contain Stevia, which may pose a health risk.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1594): Cadmium in frozen whole cooked crabs (Cancer pagurus) from Ireland; distributed to Italy.
  • Allergy Alert Notification (EU #2010.1595): Undeclared gluten in pasta sauce from Bulgaria; distributed to Slovakia.
  • Allergy Alert Notification (EU #2010.1596): Undeclared whey protein in cocoa cream filled biscuits from Turkey; distributed to Slovakia.
  • Consumer Product Safety Notification (EU #2010.1597): Migration of lead from fondue pans from Germany and Latvia.
  • Food Supplement Safety Notification (EU #2010.1598): High content of zinc in food supplement from the United States, via the Netherlands; distributed to Germany.

  • Food Safety Recall (Korea): The Food and Drug Administration announces a recall of Olga sesame sauce due to the presence of Clostridium.

The product is known to have been distributed in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, and may have been distributed in other Atlantic provinces.
  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Recall: McNeil Consumer Healthcare recalls all product lots of Children's BENADRYL® Allergy FASTMELT® Tablets in cherry and grape flavors. The recall was initiated after a review conducted as part of McNeil's Comprehensive Action Plan revealed insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process.

  • Food Safety Recall (UK): Warburtons Ltd. recalls Warburtons 6-Pack Crumpets (best before 22/11/10 and 23/11/10) due to possible contamination with small pieces of aluminium. The recalled crumpets were distributed within Yorkshire, Lancashire, Merseyside, West Midlands, North Wales and Greater Manchester in Sainsbury's stores and may also have been distributed to other retailers in those areas.
  • Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall (UK): EBEWE Pharma Ges.m.b.H.Nfg.KG recalls certain batch numbers of Fluorouracil 50 mg/ml Solution for Injection 10 ml and Methotrexate 100 mg/ml Solution for Injection 10, because glass particles have been identified in a small number of vials during routine testing.
  • Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall (France): Janssen-Cilag recalls certain lots of Velcade 3.5mg powder for injectable solution, due to the presence of visible particles in suspension in certain vials of the affected lots.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1564): Parasitic infestation with nematodes (8 dead larvae) of frozen pike (Esox lucius) fillets from the Russian Federation, via Lithuania; distributed to Poland.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1565): Too high content of E 210 - benzoic acid in mulled wine from Sweden; distributed to Finland, Norway and Sweden.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1566): Listeria monocytogenes in smoked salmon from Spain; distributed to Italy.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1567): Unauthorised use of colour E 143 - fast green FCF / FD&C green in canned soft drink from Thailand, via the Netherlands; distributed to Finland.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1568): Mold infestation in walnut kernels from Ukraine; distributed to Denmark.
  • Food Safety Notification (EU #2010.1569): Metal wire fragments (2 cm) in lollipop from Turkey; distributed to the United Kingdom.

  • OTC Pharmaceutical Product Recall: McNeil Consumer Healthcare (Fort Washington, PA) recalls Tylenol® 8 Hour caplets 50 count bottles (Lot #BCM155; UPC 3 0045-0297-51 8) following the receipt of a number of complaints of a musty or moldy odor. The odor is thought to be caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole. The recalled production lot was sold in the United States and Puerto Rico.
  • Food Safety Recall: Valley Farm Meats, dba Strasburg Provision, Inc. (Strasburg, OH) recalls approximately 2,413 pounds of various ready-to-eat meats that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This is an expansion of a previous recall, which was announced on October 5th and brings the total quantity of recalled meat to 3,600 pounds. The recalled products were sold in a number of retail outlets, grocery stores, restaurants and diners in the state of Ohio on or after June 1, 2010.   • FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Blum's Spring Lake Fisheries (Potosi, WI) that an April/May 2010 inspection of the company's seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.

  • Allergy Alert: Henlong Oriental Gifts & Foods Co. Ltd. (Surrey, BC) recalls four Thai processed fruit and vegetable products, because the products contain undeclared sulphites.   • Food Safety Recall (Singapore and Fiji): B.-d Farm Paris Creek recalls Paris Creek Tilsit Cheese,Paris Creek Cheddar Cheese, Paris Creek Gouda Cheese and Paris Creek Norwegino Cheese (all best before dates from 18/10/10 up to and including 26/01/11), due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled cheeses were manufactured in Australia and exported to Singapore and Fiji.

  • Food Safety Recall: B.-d Farm Paris Creek recalls Paris Creek Tilsit Cheese, Paris Creek Cheddar Cheese, Paris Creek Gouda Cheese and Paris Creek Norwegino Cheese (all best before dates from 18/10/10 up to and including 26/01/11), due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall includes specific dosage formats and lot codes of Benadryl Allergy Ultratab, Children's Tylenol Meltaways, Motrin IB, Tylenol Extra Strength, and Tylenol PM products. The recalled products were sold in the United States, Fiji, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Jamaica. The recalled was initiated after FDA detected Salmonella in a random sample of the peppers.
  • Food Safety Recall: J. Hellman Frozen Foods, Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) recalls 992 cases (4,960 retail units) of Señor Mexicano™ Avocado Pulp (A 21 04 10 / A 21 04 12), after FDA finds Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample of the product. The recalled avocado pulp was distributed in California and Hawaii.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Alert: FDA warns that Que She, marketed as an herbal weight loss supplement, contains active pharmaceutical ingredients not listed on the product label that could harm consumers, especially those with cardiovascular conditions. An FDA lab analysis of the product found that it contains fenfluramine, propranolol, sibutramine, and ephedrine. Que She has been widely distributed on Internet sites such as the Bouncing Bear Botanicals website, and at retail outlets, including Sacred Journey in Lawrence, Kansas.

The recalled products were sold in the United States, Fiji, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Jamaica.
