More Sliced Meats Recalled in Australia

March 3, 2009

Pendle Ham and Bacon Curers Pty Ltd. has recalled the following sliced meats that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a report by Product Recalls Australia.

  • Sliced Mortadella (1 kg vacuum sealed bags): Use by 18/03/09
  • Sliced Pancetta (1 kg vacuum sealed bags): Use by 18/03/09
  • Sliced Danish Salami (1 kg vacuum sealed bags): Use by 18/03/09

The meats were distributed only in New South Wales.

Consumers should be aware that Listeria monocytogenes may cause life-threatening symptoms in individuals who are elderly, very young or already suffering from weakened immunity to disease. Pregnant women are at risk of transmitting the infection to unborn children, resulting in possible premature births, miscarriages or stillbirths.

Anyone who purchased one of the recalled sliced meats should either discard the product or return it to the retailer for a refund.
