Allergy Alert: Sainsbury's Recalls Breaded Ham

March 2, 2009

The UK Food Standards Agency has alerted consumers to a decision by Sainsbury's to withdraw the following date code of breaded ham, due to the presence of undeclared wheat and eggs.

  • Sainsbury's Taste the Difference British Yorkshire Breaded Ham (140 g): Use by date of 13 March 2009; Display until date of 11 March 2009

While most people can consume this ham safely, individuals who are allergic to egg protein or who are unable to tolerate wheat gluten may suffer severe symptoms as a result of eating this product.

Consumers who purchased this recalled date code of Sainsbury's Breaded Ham should return it to the retailer for a refund.
